Join Waterstones Piccadilly for a reading and a fascinating talk with six brilliant women writers from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
The discussion will focus on the current conception and the implications of women’s literature in the Baltic countries. From the emergence of women’s writing to the Soviet oppression, all the way through to contemporary writing, the evening’s host Lucy Popescu will seek to uncover the little-known history and virtue of the Baltic literary expression.
The conversation will focus on the expertise and experience of Karla Gruodis, Kaija Straumanis and Johanna Ross. We will hear readings of contemporary Baltic poetry and prose by Ausra Kaziliunaite, Nora Ikstena and Maarja Kangro.
